Let Go Of My EgGO--Pride Cometh Before A Fall!

Years ago a commercial ran for eggo waffles. Itshowed two small children grabbing an eggo wafflepopping out of the toaster, yelling, "Let go of myeggo!!" We didn't see what transpired between thetwo, yet I have to believe one of two thingshappened; one of the children would have given inand let go or the waffle would have been torn into small pieces.

If you are familiar with any type of racing thereare two types of racing. The race that is run allout, hold nothing back, full steam ahead to thefinish line like the "Hare". Or one can is ran ontactics. Plan when to go fast and when to slowdown, think ahead, look at the big picture, takemind off of self, either way conserving the energyto when needing it the most, such as the "Tortoise".Do you think the Hare had any pride in hisdecision on how to run his race? Do you think hethought at all about the possibility of the Tortoisebeating him? What do you think the Tortoise wasthinking at the beginning, the middle and at theend of the race? You silly fool! Yeh, probably so.And so does the devil.

Pride is a double edged sword that can really cutif used in the wrong way. And the devil knows howto use it against us. Most of us fight with ourflesh and run our lives such as the Hare did fullsteam to the finish. That is if the race does notkill us first before we reach the end. Our fleshtells us we can control the pace when our livesare in chaos. It says, try harder, and go fasterregain the lead by over powering others. And atthe end what do we have? What have we done? Andwhat have we to show? What do you think the Tortuswas thinking?

Jesus says in Proverbs 16:18, "Pride goeth beforea fall." And he's right. If we think anythingotherwise the fall will surely come, it will behard and in the end it maybe the only thing thatgets your attention. Having a relationship withChrist is much more like running a race like theTortus rather than of the Hare. Pacing, thinking, enjoying the journey all the while gainingstrength along the way of the Tortus. Many thinkrepenting, getting dunked and to heaven I go isthe way such as the Hare. Yet, is it so?

Knowing children I don't think either let go ofthe eggo before it was too late. Will you do thesame and allow your own life be torn apart becauseof Pride? Or will you let go of your EGO longenough for Jesus to put his arms around you andsay trust me that's all. Because at the end of theday, what really matters most is not who won therace or who had the most convincing argument orthe most money or biggest job title, what mattersmost is your TRUST in Jesus. Either you trust inthe things of this world or you trust in him,it's just that simple! Who do you think the Haretrusted? And who do you think the Tortus trusted?

It may not be in our childhood that we need tohear these story's the most. We may have also longforgotten the simple commercials that once taughtus about our lives to come, Yet, at the end of ourrace of life the question will still remain, "Inwhom did you place your trust?
