The Storms of Life

Life is full of ups and downs, trials, and tribulations. They are called the storms of life. Whether it's losing a job, the end of relationship, death, divorce, financial problems, sickness, homelessness, peer pressure, etc?. everyone is going to have some type of storm that they must deal with. Take a moment and reflect on some of your life's storms that you've already encountered. Think about the situation and how it affected you. How did it make you feel? What did you do about the problem? Did the problem seem overwhelming to you at the time? If so, who did you talk to? What did you learn from the experience?

As you reflect for a moment, I want you to also think about the outcome of the situation. Because we are human, when remembering those trying times with family, friends, co-workers spouses or whomever or whatever was the source of the storm, the tendency is to immediately remember the negatives or bad things that happened. What about the good things that came out of the situation? You're probably thinking, what good things. I sincerely believe that out of every bad situation there is a good thing. A good thing could be that maybe you learned something about yourself or another that you didn't know. Maybe the job you lost that you were devastated about losing unknowingly helped to prepare you for your own business. Whatever, the case is look for something positive in the situation.

Okay so you you're thinking, it's easier said than done. Sometimes the storms come one right after another. The burdens become heavy and you grow weary. Maybe you don't see a light at the end of the tunnel. You must have faith and trust in our heavenly father as you go through these storms. My faith and trust in God is what gets me through these times. Sometimes God will allow you to go through certain things in life as a test of your faith and trust in him. Proverbs 3:5-6 says "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and he shall direct your paths." It is important to learn to depend on God. Not only in bad times but good times too. When you come to realize that it is God who directs your life and supplies your needs, it empowers you because your faith allows you know that what God promises he will do.
